COVID Testing Program

COVID Testing FAQs

Project Baseline is an initiative to make it easy and engaging for people to contribute to the map of human health and participate in clinical research. The Baseline platform is purpose-built for securely managing personal health information and has been in use for several years. In collaboration with the California Governor's office, federal, state, and local public health authorities, the Baseline platform is being used to facilitate screening and testing people for COVID

The Baseline COVID Program was established as part of California’s community-based testing program under the direction of the California Department of Public Health. The Baseline COVID Program is a connected and secure solution to support individuals from screening through testing and receipt of their test results, which is done under physician direction. Unlike a simple digital screener, this connected solution enables follow-up with individuals who are screened for future testing based on changes in screening criteria. This program has already screened thousands of individuals in California and is expanding to other states. The Baseline COVID Edmonds community college online registration is collaborating with other healthcare partners to expand access to testing.

Project Baseline was founded by Verily, a subsidiary of Alphabet focused on life sciences and healthcare and is a sister company to Google.

For the Baseline COVID Program to work, Verily needs a way to authenticate users to appropriately protect their information. Verily turned to Google for this service because Google Account provides best in class authentication. We ask that you link to an existing Google Account or create a new Google Account (which can be done with any email address) for authentication purposes and so that we may securely and privately contact you during the screening and testing process. All the data provided by Baseline COVID Program users for screening is stored separately and not directly linked to a user’s Google Account, which is used for authentication purposes.

Eligibility is determined in coordination with local health officials. The screening questions provide information to public health authorities and help prioritize individuals for scheduling based on site capacity.

If you previously took the screener and were not eligible based on previous criteria, you will be able to retake it starting May 15th. Simply sign back in to do so.

We initially worked with the California Department of Public Health to direct high-risk individuals to newly-launched testing centers across the state. These sites are a part of the California community-based testing program, in conjunction with federal guidelines.

If you are located in California, you can also find the most currently COVID health resources from your county here.

As testing capabilities expand, we will work with the state of California and other local public health authorities and healthcare partners to scale to provide risk screening to more populations. We have developed and published a guide with input from the California Department of Public Health that includes tips and best practices to help other communities launch testing sites, and instructions on how to integrate with the Baseline COVID Program.

Rite Aid is one of the Baseline COVID Program's partners. Some of the testing sites listed here are at Rite Aid store locations. We are continuing to expand and add new sites. Regardless of which test site you are closest to, you will still follow this same process to complete the screener and schedule testing.

Testing at any Rite Aid site will not result in charges to your insurance carrier regardless of whether insurance information is collected.

NON-CALIFORNIANS

Participating in this testing program will not affect your insurance or medical services.  We will not share any information with your insurance company, primary care physician or other providers without your permission; however, information may be shared with health care professionals and clinical laboratories involved in collection and processing of any biospecimens in connection with the Baseline COVID Program. You and your doctor will continue to make decisions about your care.

CALIFORNIANS

If you live in California and have health insurance, you will be asked to edmonds community college online registration your insurance information to schedule an appointment. We are asking for insurance information in order to ensure testing costs are distributed appropriately across insurers, state, and federal government funds. Your health insurance information will only be used by third parties for the purpose of submitting claims for reimbursement to your health insurance plans for the services they provide.

If you are not in California, COVID testing is available at no cost to you, regardless of your health insurance status.

If you're in California, you will be asked to provide your health insurance information to schedule an appointment. Most health insurance plans will cover the full cost of testing, at no expense to you. If you don't have insurance, you will not be charged for the services provided.

We encourage you to check with your health insurance plan to see if they will cover testing through this program, particularly if you have any of the following plans:

  • short-term, limited-duration insurance
  • retiree-only health plans

The Baseline COVID Program was designed with the privacy and security of personal health information at the forefront. Verily's Baseline COVID Program is supported by our existing Baseline platform, which was built to securely manage personal health information and designed to follow applicable federal and state regulations governing the collection and use of an individual's data. Data collected by Verily from individuals is used and disclosed in accordance with the permissions obtained through our authorization form and data is stored in advanced systems with security and privacy protocols.

Verily’s Baseline COVID Program uses Google infrastructure, security services, data storage, website hosting, and other support functions to safely store and protect the data collected on the COVID Program website. Google has a world class team of security and privacy experts dedicated to building, maintaining, and evolving defenses for the Google ecosystem. Google works diligently to keep its infrastructure, code, data, and other intangible assets secure from unauthorized access, alteration, and disclosure. More information about Google's secure infrastructure design can be found edmonds community college online registration its Infrastructure Security Design Overview (available at mynewextsetup.us).

We need your authorization to collect, use and share information in compliance with multiple health regulations and that authorization must be provided before screening begins. The services the Baseline COVID Program is providing inherently require the limited and responsible sharing of information with other groups. Specifically, this information is being used by Departments of Public Health for their operational and planning purposes. In addition, we need to share this information with companies that are performing the testing onsite or laboratories that are running the test. This sharing is fundamental to the coordination of services and is done on limited terms to achieve the purposes of the Baseline COVID Program. Verily is committed to protecting the security and privacy of individual health data entered through the Program.

Verily will have access to information that directly identifies you, including your name, street address, email address, phone number, health insurance information (if applicable), and survey responses. This information may also be provided to Verily’s contractors, the healthcare professionals who collect your specimen, the clinical laboratory that processes your specimen, the entity that is operating the site and its contractors, the state Department of Public Health and potentially other federal, state, and local health authorities, and other entities that assist with the testing program.

The information collected will be used to perform the test, administer and improve the testing program, and for public health purposes. Your health insurance information will only be used by third parties for edmonds community college online registration purpose of submitting claims for reimbursement to your health insurance plans for the services they provide.

Your test results may be provided to Verily and further shared with public health authorities, to inform public health actions to help protect our community.

Verily uses Google infrastructure, security services, data storage, website hosting, and other support functions to safely store and protect the data collected on the COVID Program website. Google’s access to data is strictly limited to the purpose of providing such services. All the data provided by Baseline COVID Program users for screening is stored separately and not directly linked to edmonds community college online registration user’s Google Account, which is used for authentication purposes.

To learn more, read our privacy policy.

As part of the overall COVID testing our tests detect all currently known SARS-CoV-2 variants, including the Delta variant.

No, our COVID testing determines if an individual is actively infected with COVID, but not the specific variant. The precise characterization of the variants still relies on genomic sequencing analysis. Information on COVID caused by variants in the U.S. can be found here.

There are two steps to this process: screening and testing. First, you will create an account and take the online screener. The screening questions provide information to public health authorities and help prioritize individuals for scheduling based on site capacity. If there is an available appointment, you will receive details on how and where to get tested. Once tested, you'll be informed via email or phone when your COVID test results are available.

Unfortunately no. At this time, only those who are 4 years or older are eligible through this program. Please consult with your physician if you have concerns about your family’s health.

A parent or legal guardian of children between 4 and 12 years old may schedule a test on the child's behalf. The parent or legal guardian will create a Project Baseline account and follow the steps to indicate who the test is for.

Children between 13 and 17 years old may access testing with parent or legal guardian consent, and attendance and edmonds community college online registration of the minor at the testing appointment. Creation of a Project Baseline account in the minor's name should happen only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

For children ages 4 to 17, the parent or legal guardian must provide consent for testing during the sign-up flow, and should accompany the minor to their appointment and bring their photo ID.

If you believe you have symptoms of COVID or that you have been exposed to the virus, you should consult your place of work for specific guidance about whether to stay home or continue working.

We estimate that those tested will receive results within days, however this may be longer depending on test processing. Lab capacity has been extremely limited in the early days of state-wide testing, and that capacity is steadily increasing over time. Please log in to your mynewextsetup.us home page to check for result updates.

In case it has been over 7 days since your test and you have not received your results, please reach out to [email protected] You will also receive an email from PWNHealth when your results are available.

We recommend that you continue with your test appointment, regardless of your current symptoms. Testing is an important part of tracking and understanding the impact of COVID If you wish to reschedule or cancel your appointment, simply log in and click on the "Reschedule" or "Cancel appointment" button in the COVID Testing Program card under "My activities" on the Home page.

The test methods the Verily COVID Baseline Testing Program is using are called Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) or Transcription-Mediated Amplification (TMA). Both TMA and PCR tests check for genetic material (viral RNA) produced by the virus. This determines if an individual is actively infected with COVID Please note that this test does not screen for antibodies.

Test methods may vary across sites as the program expands to new locations.

The Baseline COVID Testing Program maintains compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

If you cannot find a testing site on our website, it may not have appointments available at this time or it may have closed or changed operators. We recommend you edmonds community college online registration the CDPH COVID Testing Website to view their list of active testing sites.

If you need Baseline COVID Testing Program support, visit the Baseline COVID Testing Program help page and click the phone or email icon in the bottom right hand corner. Support is available Monday-Friday, 5AM - 8PM PST.

How To Present Your Project Online Successfully

Presentation is an essential part of studying. No matter what you’re engaged in, you must present yourself and your work as profitably as possible. The ability to present something in an awesome way is not an innate skill. Today we will discuss how to present your project in the best possible way and how to get prepared. 3 steps to present your project online successfully Step #1. Technical preparation for the presentation online Probably, it will be superfluous to remind them that before the project presentation, it is worth checking the availability and quality of the Internet connection in advance. Also, learn the online presentation tool itself. Among the popular ones now are Zoom and Google Teams. For example, did you know that in Zoom, it is possible to use a dashboard where you can write or draw while presenting your project? Therefore, click everywhere, check all the functions, test what is happening on the other side of the screen and how your interlocutors see you. Sometimes the speakers are convinced that everything works, but in practice, it turns out that the online presentation participants are left without video. Another point to take care of is the ability to see participants' questions during the presentation. For this, someone prepares a second screen or uses built-in live chats. There always will be questions, the answers to which are important for the listeners to receive immediately. So, take care of the timely response. Step #2. Working with the presentation itself The first thing to do is define a goal: what do you want your comrades to understand, remember, and do after the online project presentation? When there are answers to these three questions, organize your material according to your goals. Apart from this, there are a few more rules. Remember, a presentation isn't just about slides A presentation, project, or idea doesn’t start from beautiful presentation templates. Watch your gestures, facial expressions, control your voice, intonation, and even posture. Yes, this is important for online as well. Don't let yourself turn your back on the audience, aka the screen, and avoid empty phrases. Know your audience When preparing for a performance, you must feel confident and understand who you are going to present to. Students of economic directions, for example, will expect economic calculations from you, engineering students – technical ones. Tailor your content based on the interests of your audience. Create a springboard From the very first minutes of your speech, show that it will be interesting, grab the listener's attention. Ask your audience a question. When people don’t passively perceive information but are involved in the search for an answer, the degree of attention immediately rises. Use quotes. Find a quote from a famous person that can be a good starting point for your reasoning. Tell a short story that takes no more than 30 seconds and directly reveals the topic. Remember that Steve Jobs was famous for stories, and if your topic allows it, then try to create a story. The listener will immerse in a story and will no longer be able to be distracted by social media or household chores. Place accents A common mistake many speakers make is drawing the audience's attention to several factors at the same time: both on the slide and on the words of a speaker. Try to avoid such situations: replace text with pictures, use explanatory graphics and dashboards. Visualize competently Strict and simple design, a minimal amount of text, and no unnecessary details – this is the recipe for the perfect presentation. Don't try to stand out with bright, contrasting shades of slides that you can see in an online presentation maker, as they will kill the whole impression of the work. This way, the audience won’t remember the content but will only remember the rich colors. By the way, young people better get the ]information from animated content. Use GIFs or simple videos recorded with a screen recorder for Windows or a screen recorder for Mac. And don't forget the humor. Classmates will definitely appreciate and remember the information better. Draw on practical experience The theory is good, but it doesn't compare to practical cases. You will be able to interest the public only when you share real experiences and true results. It's like a book: a beautiful cover is great, but if the content is boring, readers won't reach a conclusion. Speak easier Renowned entrepreneur Richard Branson says, "A professional must be able to keep things simple." This is perfectly true. Don't overload your speech with specialized terms. This can prevent the audience from understanding you. Add more numbers If you have specific data, use it. If the numbers cannot be divulged, use percentages, that will work too. But avoid dry statistics. Get ready Rehearse. Forget about reading from the piece of sheet. Bad presentation and slurred speech will kill even the most promising idea. Step #3. Conducting an online presentation We offer a classic plan that never fails and has remained effective for many years. Greetings. Checking the sound with your voice and duplicating it in the chat in case someone's sound doesn’t work. Voicing out a presentation structure that helps you and your audience to focus and keep track of where you are. Holding the actual presentation and, if possible, attracting the audience with interaction. Unveiling key message. Holding AMA session. Calling to action, rehearsing the key message. A few more things to remember Interactive is a prerequisite Interactive allows the speaker to navigate how the presentation is going and to keep the audience's attention. The interactive format can be different: a speaker's question, interactive slides, video inclusion, testing. It is important that people know the rules of your interaction right away. It may happen that you are asking the audience a general question and waiting for an answer. But they don’t understand how they should answer because they were not given clear instructions. Ask a question in the format: “How many of you have used this modern technology? Put a plus in the chat, if yes, and a minus, if not." It is important to understand that interactivity dilutes the presentation, especially if it is long. In online presentations, we advise you to make such changes every minutes. Remember about dynamics Often people without online presentation experience speak quietly and without haste. There is no energy in such a presentation, it is difficult to listen to. Speed up your speech. But that doesn't mean you should avoid pauses. On the contrary. Dynamics consists of loudness, speed of speech, and intonation – in order to highlight information, emphasize some thought. Pauses should remain so that people have time to assimilate new information. Thus you’ll get the most balanced presentation that will help to move to a new stage. Integrate jokes It is often asked whether it is worth using jokes, do they really relieve tension and set you up in a friendly way? Well, getting a top mark doesn’t depend on humor usage. Jokes can really be appropriate. At the same time, the speaker should not wait for the audience's reaction in return. It is also important to understand that jokes are not a panacea, and we wouldn’t recommend preparing them in advance. However, if, situationally, you can successfully joke, why not? Final words We are sure that you won’t love to give presentations online right away. After all, the usual offline one gives emotional reactions, non-verbal communication that inspires and supports. This is sorely lacking online. But over time, you will definitely get used to the new format and develop your online presentation master tools.

Getting the classes you want at the time you want them is a top priority for students. The secret: Register early.

“Core classes, like English and math, that are required as prerequisites for upper-level classes and graduation tend to fill quickly,” said Kim Chapman, Edmonds Community College’s dean of Humanities and Social Sciences Division. “If you wait to register, you’ll be less likely to get the days and times you need and the teachers you want.”

Help protect yourself and the people around you by getting tested through this program

The Baseline COVID Program is collaborating with other healthcare partners to expand access to testing.

If you live in California and have health insurance, you will be asked to provide your insurance information to schedule an appointment.

More information about Google's secure infrastructure design can be found at its Infrastructure Security Design Overview (available at mynewextsetup.us).

Your health insurance information will only be used by third parties for the purpose of submitting claims for reimbursement to your health insurance plans for the services they provide.

All the data provided by Baseline COVID Program users for screening is stored separately and not directly linked to a user’s Google Account, which is used for authentication purposes.

Children between 13 and 17 years old may access testing with parent or legal guardian consent, and attendance and supervision of the minor at the testing appointment.

We recommend you visit the CDPH COVID Testing Website to view their list of active testing sites.

If you need Baseline COVID Testing Program support, visit the Baseline COVID Testing Program help page and click the phone or email icon in the bottom right hand corner. Support is available Monday-Friday, 5AM - 8PM PST.
