At this time we do not offer options through other carriers or to request a specific service type. 

I still have UPS return labels at home, can I still use these?

    1. Set Allowed Methods to each method of shipment that you want to offer.

      When choosing methods, take into consideration your FedEx account, the frequency and size of your shipments, and if you allow international shipments. You can offer as many or as few methods as you want, such as:

      • Europe First Priority
      • Delivery day options: 1 Day Freight, 2 Day Freight, 2 Day, 2 Day AM, 3 Day Chase pay by phone options–Express Saver, Ground, First, Overnight, Home Delivery, Standard Overnight
      • International options–International Economy, Intl Economy Freight, International First, International Ground, International, Priority Intl
      • Priority options–Freight, Priority Overnight
      • Smart Post–If offering the Smart Post method (enter the Hub ID)
      • Freight options–Freight, National Freight
    2. If you want to provide a Free Shipping option through FedEx, set the free shipping options.

      • Set Free Method to the method you want to use for free shipping. If you do not want to offer free shipping through FedEx, choose .

    7. For Sort Order, enter a number to determine the sequence in which FedEx appears when listed with other delivery methods during checkout.

    FEDEX Shipping Rate API Error Msg: 'Account number not found.'

    Has anyone encountered this error message recently while using FEDEX's shipping rate API??

    I've been working with the FEDEX shipping rate API for ~a week now, and my code was working smoothly until today. I made very few changes, which I did not track (unfortunately). All of the auth/account info is TEST info provided by FEDEX. Now I see the following error, code of which is not described on FEDEX's [error codes page][4]:

    Upon searching, it looks like there's no talk of this error on the web. It's not authentication related, because upon messing with the key/meter/password info, I get another error related to authentication. So it's authenticating just fine, but doesn't see my account number. The request XML verifies that there is an account look up my fedex account number where it should be, so it appears that this message is related to "finding" the account number in FEDEX's database.

    I thought maybe there was an issue with my account, so I created another account, replaced the info, and sure enough, same error message is getting returned.

    Setting up a FedEx account to test shipping with EasyPost

    If you're using EasyPost to send and track carrier shipments you're going to need a shipping account to test with. I've found FedEx to be one of the easiest carriers to use for testing, but setting up an account isn't quite as intuitive as it could be. This post is here to serve as a quick guide to setting up a UPS shipping account for testing with EasyPost.

    To use FedEx with EasyPost, there are four credentials that we'll need to retrieve:

    1. A FedEx account number
    2. A fedEx meter number
    3. A FedEx access key
    4. A FedEx access key password

    First we'll need to create a FedEx account, which will give us an account number. After that we'll have to generate a FedEx meter number, which will automatically give us the access key and access key password.

    Before we get started, keep in mind that FedEx requires all of its customers to go through a certification process before you can start using it in production. However, if your business is already using it to ship they should already be certified and you'll need to consult with them to get the right credentials.

    For testing purposes, though, FedEx is one of the easiest carriers to get started with; if that's fine with you, head over to mynewextsetup.us If you've never visited the site before, you'll be asked to select your country (United States for me). After that you'll be taken to the home page. Click on the "Register Now" link (circled in red below).

    For testing, we're going to use an Individual shipping account. To do so, click the 'Open a new account' link. If you want to skip the testing and jump straight into shipping for your business, go ahead and click the business link; just know that the process is going to be slightly more involved and you'll need to answer specific questions about your business.

    Step 2

    Fill out the registration form, making sure you enter a valid shipping address and phone number. Also ensure that 'Open a FedEx account' is selected at the bottom.

    Step 3

    Enter your payment information. Don't worry, you won't be billed for testing EasyPost (unless you use your live EasyPost API key); however, FedEx will test if the card is valid by placing a temporary $ charge on it.

    For the rest of the options (not pictured), select 'More than a week', 'No' and 'No'.

    Step 4

    Once your new account is registered, click on 'My Profile' link at the top, then select 'Account Management' on the left. Copy and save the value for 'Account Number', we'll need it for integrating with EasyPost.

    Step 5

    Now we need to generate a FedEx meter number. Open up mynewextsetup.us in your browser. Once there, click the "FedEx Web Services" link on the left, then click 'Develop and Test'. (If you want a production key right away, click on 'Move to Production' instead).

    Click on the purple 'Get your test key' button.

    Step 6

    Accept the license agreements and then fill out your contact information. Remember to use a valid address and phone number. Select whichever test key applies to you. If you're in the US, it will be "US and Global".

    Step 7

    After setting up the test account, you should get a screen like the one below. You'll need to copy the 'Developer Test Key' and the 'Test Meter Number'. You can ignore the 'Test Account Number' — don't get it confused with the FedEx account number that you saved from earlier.

    Step 8

    After setting up the test account you will also receive an email from FedEx with much the same information. However, this email also contains the password that we'll need. Copy the 'Test Password' value from the email.

    To recap, you should now have the following credentials:

    1. A FedEx account number (not to be confused with the Test Account Number seen when generating a meter number).
    2. A FedEx test meter number
    3. A FedEx developer test key
    4. A FedEx test password sent to you in an email confirmation from FedEx.

    With those four credentials, head on over to mynewextsetup.us, sign in to your account and go to 'Carriers'. Find the 'FedEx' box (not the 'FedEx SmartPost' box) and click the 'Enable' button.

      We know our members establish routines around their return experience, so we’ve pulled together some tips for how to make FedEx returns work best for you! As always, when you receive a shipment, you’ll find a pre-paid return label in your reusable garment bag provided by FedEx. 

      For the fastest returns, drop your shipment off at the below Drop-off box and FedEx locations. We’ve categorized in order of speed or returns back to RTR, but please pick what works for you:

      1. RTR Drop-off Box (Find your nearest location here)
      2. OfficialFedEx Store (FedEx Office Print and FedEx Ship Center)
      3. FedEx Partner Location (ex: Walgreens, Kroger, Safeway, Albertsons, etc)

      Get to know the pick up times at your preferred return location. Each location’s pick up times vary, so you have the flexibility to pick and choose which one to go to, on which day. Check the pick up time at mynewextsetup.us or ask at your preferred location. By returning before a pick up time, you will ensure your returns aren’t waiting and extra day to get back to RTR.

      Why are my packages being shipped via FedEx Ground? 

      FedEx Ground is used to ship to locations where FedEx&#;s estimated ship time indicates the shipment will get to its destination (either to our customer or one of our fulfillment centers) within 2 business days. FedEx Express is typically used to ship to locations where FedEx’s estimated ship time is greater than 2 business days. 

      All shipping carriers (including UPS, FedEx, and Amazon) are experiencing delays due to COVID If your service type is taking longer than expected this may be due to general carrier delays rather than the type of shipping service being used.

      How do returns at the partner or FedEx drop box locations work? Is there a difference in shipping time?

      Returns are picked up at the designated pick-up time and brought to the nearest FedEx hub for sorting and shipping &#; the same as FedEx Store returns. To ensure your returns are not delayed when using these locations, be sure to check the location’s pick up times and return prior to that time. If you have a FedEx Store available to you, these locations may have more frequent and reliable pickups.

      Can I request FedEx Express or UPS labels?

      At this time we do not offer options through other carriers or to request a specific service type. 

      I still have UPS return labels at home, can I still use these?

      If you have any old UPS labels at home, you can still use those labels and return at a UPS store or UPS partner location. Make sure to double check the carrier on the shipping label before making any returns as customers are responsible for any items which are not received back at RTR due to incorrect return methods.

      I accidentally dropped off my returns at UPS instead of FedEx, what do I do?

      Please contact us at [email protected] as soon as you realize your returns were dropped off at the wrong carrier. We’ll ask that you share any details you have about the time, location, or tracking information for your returns and will work with you to resolve this issue.

      Customers are responsible for any items which are not received back at RTR due to incorrect return methods; Reserve customers may be charged up to the total retail price and members may be charged up to the members’ purchase price.

      How to Update an Address for FedEx

      FedEx allows you to manage your shipping account online.

      After you ship a package with FedEx to the wrong address, you can still change the delivery address as long as the new address is in the same city as the original. If you are expecting a package that was sent to the wrong address, you can only request simple updates such as the addition of a suite number -- any major changes must be requested by the shipper. You can help avoid future problems by keeping your customers' addresses updated in your online FedEx account.

      Sent Packages

      Tell the automated system you want an "address change," and then indicate that the type of change is "delivery." State the tracking number or door-tag number for the package when prompted. You will be transferred to a customer service representative.

      If you have negotiated discounted shipped rates through your own account with FedEx, then you can display your discounted shipping rates to your customers at checkout. To display your negotiated rates, you need to have the carrier calculated shipping feature on your Shopify account. For more information, refer to Third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates.

      Grow your business

      You can display calculated rates to your customers from USPS, DHL Express, UPS, and Canada Post using Shopify Shipping.

      Supported FedEx shipping rates

      After you connect your FedEx account, you can offer the following shipping rates to your customers:

      • FedEx 2 Day
      • FedEx Express Saver
      • FedEx First Overnight
      • FedEx Ground
      • FedEx Priority Overnight
      • FedEx Standard Overnight

      Register for an account with FedEx

      Visit the FedEx website and create a FedEx account.

      During the setup process with FedEx, make note of the account number that you are assigned and make sure your billing address is correct.

      You need to re-enter this information later and the details must match exactly.

      Get your FedEx credentials

      Before you get your credentials, make sure that you have an account with FedEx.

      Log in to your FedEx account and follow the FedEx Web Services guide to get your production keys.

      Record your Authentication Key, Account Number, and Production Meter Number at the end of your registration process because you need it to activate FedEx in the Shopify admin.

      Caution

      Your Meter Number is emailed to you by FedEx, but the authentication key isn't. Make sure that you record your authentication key before proceeding.

      Check for an email from FedEx that includes your Production Password, Account Number, and Production Meter Number.

      Activate calculated shipping for FedEx

      1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Shipping and delivery.

      2. Under Store settings, tap Shipping and delivery .

      Deactivate FedEx

      If you no longer want to use FedEx (for example if your account with them has expired), then you need to make sure the service isn't offered to your customers at checkout.

      Steps:

      1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Shipping and delivery.
