Chase amazon prime rewards card

chase amazon prime rewards card

In my experience, the Chase Amazon card is tough to get. I have a pretty solid profile and just got a 20, instant approval from amex and a. The Ultimate Rewards program is super-flexible, the points are As a Prime member, I get 5 percent back on all of my Amazon and Whole Foods purchases. The information for the Chase Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this.

Chase Amazon Visa vs Chase Freedom Card

Why Are People Facing The Dilemma between these two cards?

On the surface, the Amazon Visa and the Chase Freedom couldn&#;t be more different cards. One appears to be a retail store card while another is a cash back and rewards card. However, in the fourth quarter of recent years, the Chase Freedom card has allowed cardholders to earn 5% cash back when they use the card to shop at mynewextsetup.us (subject to $1, cap). You should also take note that mynewextsetup.us last appeared on the Q4 5% list in Since then, the list has consisted on "department stores" and even Walmart in The 5% is more than Amazon&#;s 3% on their own card.

amazon is Q4

And since many folks do the majority of their shopping towards year end, it presents a difficult choice for some. So which card should you get? Well, in this comparison, we&#;ll look at both cards and figure out the circumstances which you should choose one over the other.

Difference In How You Earn Points?

Though the Amazon Visa and Chase Freedom are both issued by Chase and are both reward cards, they are really quite different in the way they allow you to earn points.

The Amazon obviously allows you to earn points when you shop at mynewextsetup.us In fact, you will earn three points for every dollar you spend at mynewextsetup.us However, in addition to that, you also earn double points for spending on dining and gasoline. For other regular purchases, you will earn one point per dollar.

The Chase Freedom is different from Amazon in that it is a more of an all-round rewards and cash back card. At a base level, you will earn one point per dollar that you spend on the card. However, the Freedom is also commonly known as a rotating category card. You will earn 5% cash back on certain items for three months. And then those items will change again. For example, let us use gasoline as an example. In the case of the Amazon card, you will earn 2X for gasoline. For the Freedom card, you might earn 5% cash back for gasoline for the first quarter of the year (as an example).

Difference In How You Redeem Points?

Both cards allow you to redeem your points in a variety of ways. For Amazon, you would think that all they would do is to let you redeem points for your purchases on Amazon. You could do that, but you could also redeem your points for cash back gift cards and merchandises.

The main way most cardholder will redeem points is for their mynewextsetup.us purchases. However, there are some items that you cannot redeem for. For example, you cannot redeem for digital goods, some gift certificates, Kindle downloads, Subscribe and Save items, AmazonFresh, or orders containing Pre-order items. You could pay in full for purchases using points, or partially use some points and pay the rest with your Amazon Visa. You can even use points with gift cards as well.

amazon points checkout

Aside from using points for mynewextsetup.us purchases you can also use points to redeem cash back, gift cards and merchandise from Chase&#;s rewards program as well.

As far as the Chase Freedom points go, you can redeem them for travel, cash back, gift cards and merchandises from their reward program.

How To Choose Between These Two?

There a few questions that you have to ask yourself if you torn between these two cards.

The first question to ask yourself if how much do you really spend at Amazon? If all you do is to buy the occasional stuff, then clearly you would be better off with the Chase Freedom.

You also have to ask your self when do you exactly buy stuff from Amazon. If you only buy from them during the holiday season, then you may be better off with the Chase Freedom since you can earn 5X points during the 4th quarter as very often, they include mynewextsetup.us in their rotating categories for Q4 (the last time mynewextsetup.us was on their Q4 5% list was in Since then, mynewextsetup.us has not appeared on the Chase Freedom Q4 5% list). If you are always buying something from mynewextsetup.us throughout the year, then the Amazon Visa will probably make more sense. The Chase Freedom also limits the total spending for their rotating categories to $1, So if you spend more than that at mynewextsetup.us during Q4, then that may also be an issue.

Another factor to consider is that the Chase Freedom is a rotating category card. I personally have this card and every quarter, you will be sent an email asking you to enroll. It does not automatically enroll you and for some of you, that might be just too much of a hassle. It has certainly annoyed me the last year or so.

You also have to consider how do you want to redeem points. The Chase Freedom allows you to redeem points for cash back, travel, gift cards and merchandise from their reward program. The amazon rewards points can also be redeemed for these but in addition, you can use points to reduce your purchase price when you check out. You can use points to partially pay, to fully pay or use it together with a gift card as well. The one thing you have to be aware is that you cannot use points for certain products like kindle books! (We mentioned earlier the items that are not eligible for points use above).

Verdict and Opinion

So here is what I think for those of you on the fence. You should get the Amazon Rewards Visa if:

  • You shop at mynewextsetup.us year round
  • You would like to redeem points for mynewextsetup.us purchases at check outs
  • You do not mind not having the ability to use points on things like kindle downloads, pre-orders and subscribe and save items.
  • You hate the confusion and signing up process of rotating categories card

You should consider the Chase Freedom instead if:

  • You only shop at mynewextsetup.us during the 4th quarter during holiday season
  • You spend less than $1, during this period
  • You do not mind signing up every quarter to activate rotating categories bonuses

Our Verdict

The current bonus is $50 for non-Prime and $ for Prime, though we have seen as high as $ $ is highest ever. At the $$ level, this already becomes an interesting signup bonus. That&#;s specially true given that there&#;s no spend requirement (I&#;m guessing the increased bonuses will be immediate upon approval) and that the card earn of 5% at Amazon and Whole Foods is actually useful to many people.

Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card Review: More Details

The Amazon Prime Visa Signature card comes with a head-turning number: 5% on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases. The card has many of the same features as its predecessor – the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature card – and it improves on the regular Amazon Rewards card by offering an unlimited 5% rewards rate on mynewextsetup.us purchases.

For current Amazon Prime subscribers, the Prime card is worth the hoopla. Besides the fact that you will have a shiny, metal card to show off (yes, the Amazon Prime card is made of metal), the card comes with some useful purchase and travel protections, and, of course, a higher rewards rate. However, you’ll need to shell out $ for Amazon Prime membership just to obtain the card. While you can get far more than $ worth of value out of Prime membership, the service doesn’t necessarily make sense for every cardholder.

Tip: Amazon Prime membership on its own comes with very valuable benefits, including free two-day shipping and Amazon Video. If you aren’t currently an Amazon Prime member, we recommend looking in to the full list of benefits to see whether Prime Membership — and, by extension, the Amazon Prime card —  make sense for you. (Learn more in our article, “Is Amazon Prime worth it?”)

Sign-up bonus

You can earn a $ Amazon gift certificate as soon as your application is approved as a sign-up bonus. An instant gift certificate is Amazon&#;s &#;business as usual&#; sign-up bonus, and the current $ offer is a good bit higher than the card&#;s former bonus of a $ gift certificate.

Earning Amazon points

The unlimited 5% return on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases is the best thing the card has to offer. While there are competing cards that also offer a 5% rewards rate on Amazon purchases, they come with seasonal restrictions and limit the 5% rate to the first $1, in purchases. The card also offers 2% back on restaurants, gas stations and drug store purchases (and 1% back on the remainder of your purchases), adding up to a high earning rate overall.

For someone who already subscribes to Amazon Prime, an unlimited 5% bonus is mere icing on the cake. However, other applicants will need to weigh the value of Amazon Prime benefits before springing for the card. You’ll need to pay $ for Amazon Prime membership before you apply, and, though Amazon Prime does offer very valuable benefits, the rewards that you earn from the card are unlikely to outweigh the membership fee.

Even when you factor in the $ gift card that Amazon offers to new cardholders, the $ annual fee for Amazon Prime membership takes a chunk out of your potential rewards earnings after your first year. If you spend less than $1, on Amazon purchases each year, you may be better off applying for an alternative rotating rewards card that offers 5% earnings on Amazon purchases and pairing it with a cash back card that offers a to 2 cash back rate on everyday spending.

Bonus for Whole Foods customers

Whole Foods customers may be delighted to learn that the 5% bonus rate also applies to Whole Food purchases – both online and at the register. Frequent shoppers with Whole Foods can earn a substantial amount of rewards with the Amazon Prime card. In fact, if you spend at least $2, at Whole Foods each year, your earnings with the card will cancel out the cost of your Prime Membership.

Bonus for Whole Foods customers

Select rotating categories on Amazon will also earn extra rewards up to 20% on top of the default 5% bonus. While the 20% number may seem enticing, however, these bonus categories won&#;t make up the bulk of your purchases and can be somewhat niche.

Redeeming Amazon points

Amazon aims to make sign-up for the Amazon Prime card and rewards redemption as seamless as possible. Current members of Amazon Prime with an Amazon Rewards Visa Signature card will be automatically upgraded to the new card. While you are waiting to receive your new Amazon Prime card in the mail, you can log in and link your current Visa Signature card to your account to start receiving the 5% bonus.

Redeeming points on Amazon

Amazon allows you to conveniently apply your points at the point of purchase

Once the card is linked to your Amazon Prime account, choose the card as your payment option, input the number of points you want to use, and Amazon will instantly apply them to your purchase.

If you don’t want to use your points for Amazon purchases, Amazon gives you a few other redemption options, including statement credits, deposit into a checking or savings account, gift cards and travel rewards.

Other Amazon redemption options

You can redeem Amazon points for cash back, gift cards or travel

While you’ll need to collect a minimum of 2, to 2, points to qualify for one of these alternative options, the good news is that you get a value of 1 cent per point no matter which way you redeem your points. (However, you’ll need to call in to Chase’s travel center to redeem your points for travel – for convenience’s sake, you may want to avoid this option.)

Unfortunately, although this is a Chase card, there are no options to transfer points to other Chase cards. Also, points can be applied only to one Amazon Prime account. Cardholders searching for a card with more versatile points would be better off checking out Chase’s line of Ultimate Rewards cards.

Purchase protections

The Amazon Prime card offers several protections to help protect your purchases made online. The card guarantees zero fraud liability – which means you are never liable for unauthorized purchases made with your card. The card also includes:

  • Purchase protection – Your card covers you for days against damage or theft of purchases, up to $ per claim and $50, per account.
  • Extended warranty protection – For eligible warranties of three years or less, your card will extend the warranty period by an additional year.

Travel protections

If you’re reading this review, it’s likely that you are considering the Amazon Prime card mainly for Amazon purchases. You may be surprised to learn that the Prime card also makes a good travel companion, thanks to its collection of Visa Signature benefits, including:

  • No foreign transaction fees – The card doesn’t charge transaction fees on purchases made outside the U.S. (which means the card also spares you a 2% to 3% fee for purchases on Amazon sites in foreign countries).
  • Travel and emergency assistance – Cardholders are eligible for legal, medical and other emergency services while traveling.
  • Lost luggage reimbursement—The card covers you and your family members for checked and carry-on bags that are lost or damaged by a carrier – up to $3, per passenger.
  • Baggage delay insurance – The card will reimburse for you essential purchases in case your luggage gets delayed while traveling – up to $ per day up to three days, for delays of six hours or longer.
  • Travel accident insurance – The card offers up to $, in coverage for accidental death or dismemberment while traveling.
  • Auto rental collision damage waiver – The card offers secondary coverage (coverage that applies in case another policy doesn’t apply) for theft or damage to a rental car purchased with the card.
  • Roadside dispatch – You can call hour roadside service through the card (for a fee) if you have roadside emergency.

While this is a fair list of protections, if you’re looking for a card to cover you in case of travel emergencies, you may be better off searching for a card that offers broader travel protections, particularly trip cancellation and interruption insurance (The Chase Sapphire Reserve® is a good option).

Customer experience

The Amazon Prime Rewards card is issued through Chase bank, which has a fairly good record on customer service. Chase recently scored on J.D. Power’s customer satisfaction, coming in fourth place out of 11 major issuers. The Chase mobile app also rates well with its users, scoring a out of 5 on the Apple Store and out of 5 on Google Play store. Chase offers convenient, round-the-clock customer service for its cardholders. One drawback: Chase doesn’t include mobile chat on its website – a loss for cardholders seeking to get a simple question answered quickly.

Is this card the same as the Amazon Store card?

The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature card is not the same as the Amazon Store card. To some shoppers&#; confusion, Amazon also offers a store card that includes special Amazon financing and a 5% bonus on Amazon purchases when you subscribe to Amazon Prime. The Amazon Store card is not a general-purpose credit card – it can only be used on Amazon purchases – is issued by a different bank (Synchrony) and features a much higher APR, so cardholders should take care not to mix the two cards up when applying.

Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature card

With the 3% back at Amazon and Whole Foods, the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature card offers the next highest earning rate on Amazon purchases. It also features most of the same travel and purchase protections as the Amazon Prime card, including no foreign transaction fee, all for no annual fee.

Discover it Cash Back

For three quarters of the year, the Discover it Cash Back card only offers 1% cash back on Amazon purchases, but in the fourth quarter of , the Discover it Cash Back is a winning proposition for Amazon purchases – especially for new cardholders. If you remember to enroll in the category that quarter, you will receive 5% back on your Amazon purchases, on up to $1, in purchases (then 1%). And, since Discover matches your cash back at the end of your first year of card membership, new cardholders can essentially earn 10% cash back on Amazon purchases in the fourth quarter.

Chase Freedom Unlimited (along with other Ultimate Rewards cards)

The Chase Freedom Unlimited card can’t compete with the Amazon Prime or Amazon Rewards Visa’s rewards rate on Amazon purchases. However, if you’re not up for applying to the Amazon card and – especially if you’d rather earn points than cash back – you should consider applying for the Chase Freedom Unlimited card. If you pair it with other cards in the Chase Ultimate Rewards family, including a Chase Freedom card and a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve card – you can boost your overall earning rate, get a 25% to 50% bonus, respectively, on travel redemptions through Chase Ultimate Rewards, transfer points to outside travel partners, and enjoy a host of great travel benefits, including lounge access through the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

Why should you get the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature card?

  • You’re already an Amazon Prime member.
  • You shop frequently enough on Amazon to justify the ongoing cost of a $ Amazon Prime membership.
  • You shop frequently at Whole Foods (especially if you spend more than $2, per year there).
  • You spend a lot on restaurant and gas purchases.
  • You’re a frequent traveler, who can take advantage of the card’s travel benefits, including the waived foreign transaction fees.
  • You often shop on foreign websites and would benefit from the lack of a foreign transaction fee for those purchases.

How to use the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature card:

  • Sign up for an Amazon Prime membership to apply for the card.
  • Use the Prime card for all your Amazon and Whole Foods purchases to earn the 5% bonus rate and take advantage of the purchase protections.
  • Use your points at checkout on Amazon – you can instantly apply them with no minimum points required.
  • You can use this card when you travel in foreign countries or shop on foreign sites without racking up foreign transaction fees.
  • Use an online shopping portal such as eBates to stack up extra cash back on your Amazon purchases (yes, the rewards do stack with your card rewards).

Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card Review

Earning Rewards

With the Amazon Rewards Visa card, you’ll earn an unlimited 3% cash back in rewards at mynewextsetup.us and Whole Foods Market, 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores and 1% cash back on all other purchases.

There&#;s also a welcome bonus: a $75 Amazon gift card which will be loaded directly into your Amazon account upon approval.

Redeeming Rewards

Rewards are earned as Amazon Rewards, an Amazon-specific currency with a value of 1 cent per point. There are a variety of ways to redeem Amazon Rewards, including travel and gift cards, but the two most lucrative redemption options are redeeming your rewards for a statement credit and using “Shop with Points” on Amazon.

Since Amazon purchases paid for through “Shop with Points” do not earn 3% rewards, the most efficient way to redeem your Amazon Rewards is via a statement credit.

Rewards Potential

Using data from various government agencies, Forbes Advisor has developed estimates for how much a family in the 70th percentile of income spends annually in various categories. We base our assumptions on a sole proprietor in this income range. The 70th percentile of wage-earning households brings in $, annually and has $26, in expenses that can be charged to credit cards. These figures are used to estimate the potential rewards from this credit card.

Our sample household spends $5, annually on grocery purchases. If you’re looking at the Amazon Rewards Visa card, you’re likely already a Whole Foods shopper. So we’ll assume that all of annual grocery spending is done either at Whole Foods or on bulk grocery purchases on mynewextsetup.us That would yield 17, Amazon Rewards points for grocery purchases.

Additionally, our baseline household spends $2, annually on online shopping. Amazon sells just about everything, so we’ll estimate that all of the shopping is done with Amazon. That’s another 7, Amazon Rewards points.

This household has annual average expenses of $ at drugstores, $4, at restaurants and $2, at gas stations. Earning 2% back is another 16, Amazon Rewards points each year.

Forbes Advisor estimates that you could reasonably expect to be able to charge an additional $13, each year on your Amazon card. At 1% back, that would be 13, more Amazon Rewards points.

That yields a total of 53, Amazon Rewards points for this sample household. That’s nearly $ in annual cash back, in addition to the welcome offer earned in the first year. Of course, all households have different shopping patterns, so make sure to look at your own spending patterns to see what kind of rewards your family would earn with the Amazon Rewards Visa card.

Amazon and Chase Will Not Give Me a Straight Answer About What They Do With My Credit Card Data

Whenever I go out to dinner with a bunch of friends, and we split the check, multiple people wind up throwing in those heavy, slate-grey credit cards bearing Amazon’s smiley arrow.

Almost everyone I know has the Amazon Prime credit card because it comes with a killer rewards program, especially if you’re an Amazon Prime member—five points for every dollar you spend at Amazon and Whole Foods, and two points for most dollars spent elsewhere. There are lots of “co-branded” cards out there, for other retailers, all the airlines, hotels, even sports teams—but given how often we’re all buying stuff on Amazon, which is estimated to account for 50 percent of all online commerce in America, we’d be crazy not to use it. Many of us use the Amazon card for all of our purchases, on and off Amazon. But what’s the cost to our privacy?

For an experiment I recently did, cutting Amazon out of my life, I wanted to find out what exactly Amazon learns about me when I use the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature card from Chase. I looked at my cardholder agreement and its attendant privacy policy, but neither said, so I asked both Amazon and Chase Bank. Disturbingly, neither company would tell me, exactly.

People worry about how much Google and Facebook know about them, but Amazon is increasingly sucking up incredible amounts of data about individuals, too, such that it knows if you’re friends with the person whose book or product you’re reviewing. Amazon already knows what we’re buying on Amazon and in Whole Foods. What if it knows what we’re buying everywhere else too? Knowing what everyone buys every day is powerful for predicting their future behavior and further monetizing them (as other tech giants well know). Amazon could use insights into what people are buying from other businesses to better compete with those businesses and increase its stranglehold on the American economy.

So what does Amazon learn about me when I use this card?

Amazon’s spokesperson, Andrea Ruge, hopped on the phone with me to understand exactly what I wanted to know and said she would get back to me. Then, after I sent a couple of emails asking if she had information for me, she responded, “Apologies for the delay on this. I don’t have anything to share re: your Chase card question below.”

I was surprised and annoyed that Amazon couldn’t answer a question that’s not particularly difficult or unreasonable: What does Amazon learn about people who have Amazon Prime credit cards?

Chase is the issuing bank, so it is the controlling party. I sent the bank’s spokesperson, Mary Jane Rogers, a few emails before I got a response. She sent me boilerplate privacy materials about the cards the bank issues and apologized. “Sorry, this is as specific as I am able to share,” she wrote in an email that left me feeling even more spooked about what Amazon knows about me.

Rogers said this would be “of most interest” to me and pasted it into the email:

I asked what category fits a “co-brand partner,” which is Amazon’s official designation. Was it an “affiliate” that gets “information about your transactions and experiences,” personal information whose “sharing” cannot be limited?

“Yes, I’m confident it’s that one,” Rogers wrote back.

So I emailed Ruge again asking if it was true that Amazon was getting information about my “transactions and experiences,” which I took to mean everything I buy with the card and how much I spend, giving Amazon insight into people’s spending outside of Amazon.

“Since we don’t comment on rumors and speculation, there’s not a ton I can provide here,” Ruge wrote back. “However, I can tell you that we are not an ‘affiliate’ Chase [sic] and these details are inaccurate. Unfortunately, that’s all I can share at this time.”

Okay but that’s what Chase, Amazon’s ostensible partner, had told me. I wrote back, expressing my frustration.

Rightly pointing to the definition of “affiliate” on Chase’s page, which defines it as a company owned or controlled by JPMorgan Chase, Ruge said that’s not what Amazon is. She said my conjectures about what information Amazon was getting were inaccurate. “Unfortunately I cannot share anything beyond that,” she ended her email.

I’ve had an easier time getting information out of a spy agency. I turned to experts on credit cards for help. They were all stumped, too.

The National Consumer Law Center said data-sharing agreements between companies that issue credit cards together are private, and that only the companies could tell me. Other experts said the same thing.

“The information sharing between AMZ and JPM would be a feature of their contractual agreement with each other and not something I would know,” said the U.S. Pirg’s consumer director Ed Mierzwinski.

Ted Rossman, an analyst at mynewextsetup.us, was also stumped. “I suspect there is a lot of data that they are mining from this,” he speculated.

Rossman pointed me to a blogger, the Finance Buff, who, he said, “used to work in co-branded cards,” who wrote that “the co-branding partner also gets aggregated data from the issuer on the customers’ demographics and their shopping behavior. The data help the partner market its products.”

But when I reached out to the Finance Buff, Harry Sit, he, too, had no idea what data Amazon gets.

It was a very unsatisfying hunt for an answer, but there’s a clear takeaway: If you have the Amazon Prime Chase card and you’re worried about Amazon getting more data about you, only use it to buy things from Amazon and Whole Foods. Amazon knows what you’re buying there either way.

What is an Amazon Credit Card?

The most common type of Amazon Credit Card is the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card. It’s backed by Chase Bank (a subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase & Co). If you are an existing Amazon Prime subscriber, then you may qualify for it. Technically, it’s free to own as long as you are a Prime subscriber. You can use it in any establishment that accepts Visa.

There are also other types of Amazon Credit Cards, which we will also discuss briefly later. However, we will focus on the Amazon Prime Rewards card in this article.

How Is It Different From a Traditional Credit Card?

Since the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card is powered by Chase Bank, the bank handles its revolving credit issues and services. It is similar to the Amazon Rewards Signature Visa Credit card in that aspect, which is its alternative card (also co-branded). Both cards can be used in all establishments that accept Visa.

However, the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card has unique benefits that cannot be found in other cards:

  • Cashback of 5% when you shop at mynewextsetup.us and/or Whole Foods
  • Cashback of 2% at drugstores, restaurants, and gas stations
  • Cashback of 1% on other purchases
  • Cashback values have no limit (earn as much as you can)
  • You can redeem rewards for gift cards
  • You can redeem rewards for travel
  • You can redeem rewards and use them to pay for purchases on Amazon
  • New members are entitled to an mynewextsetup.us gift card worth $
  • Option to select a card design featuring Amazon or Whole Foods

What Are the Benefits of Getting an Amazon Credit Card?

Aside from the perks outlined above, it’s a great option if you spend the majority of your budget on grocery and household shopping. This is because you can earn higher rewards specifically if you already spend a lot on Amazon and Whole Foods.

Other benefits are:

  • No Annual Fee
  • Zero Fraud Liability
  • Extended Warranty Protection
  • Purchase Protection
  • Roadside Dispatch
  • Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver
  • No Foreign Transaction Fees
  • Travel and Emergency Assistance
  • Lost Luggage Reimbursement
  • Travel Accident Insurance
  • Baggage Delay Insurance
  • Visa Signature® Concierge Service
  • Visa Signature® Luxury Hotel Collection

For more detailed information on each benefit, click here.

What Are the Drawbacks of Getting an Amazon Credit Card?

The main drawback if you are not yet currently a Prime member is the cost of membership, which is $ per year. You’d have to spend approximately $ every month (or $2, in a year) to break even with the membership cost.

Again, if you already spend a lot on Amazon and Whole Foods, it shouldn’t be an issue. So consider if the fee and additional perks are worth the initial membership fee investment, in case you’re not yet a Prime member and would like to have the card.

How Do I Get an Amazon Credit Card?

You may apply for the card at Amazon’s Credit Card Marketplace. You will need to fill in the application and submit it for Chase Bank’s approval. Chase Bank will authorize and administer the vetting and approval process of your application, as well as the financial logistics thereafter.

mynewextsetup.us states that ‘if your application is instantly approved, you’ll be taken to a page that includes the Cardmember Agreement, the terms of your Amazon Rewards Visa Signature account, and other important information.’

If you’re not instantly improved, the bank will reach out to you regarding your status upon reviewing your credit history.

The process typically takes two to four weeks.

What Are the Various Types of Amazon Credit Cards Available?

Below is a brief overview of the Amazon credit cards you can consider. There are two credit cards for consumers with Amazon credit card rewards, and two as well for small businesses.

Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card

This is a consumer card which Amazon offers to those who have an Amazon Prime membership. All of the details we discussed in this article primarily apply to this type of card.

Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card

This is also a consumer card and is an alternative to the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card, for those who opt to not pay for a Prime membership.

Benefits include:

  • No Annual Fee
  • No Prime Membership Required
  • No Foreign Transaction Fees
  • 3% cashback when you shop at mynewextsetup.us and Whole Foods
  • 2% cashback at drugstores, restaurants, and gas stations
  • 1% cashback on other purchases

Amazon Business Prime American Express Card

This is a small business credit card, offered by Amazon to Business Prime members.

Benefits include:

  • No Annual Fee (Business Prime Membership is Required)
  • No Foreign Transaction Fees
  • Option to choose between:
    • 90 days terms on purchases at AWS, mynewextsetup.us Whole Foods, Amazon Business
  • 2% cashback at restaurants, wireless telephone services, and gas stations
  • 1% cashback on other purchases

Amazon Business American Express Card

This is also a small business credit card, offered by Amazon to small business owners who opt to not pay for a Business Prime membership.

Benefits include:

  • No Annual Fee
  • No Business Prime Membership Required
  • No Foreign Transaction Fees
  • Option to choose between:
    • 60 days terms on purchases at AWS, mynewextsetup.us Whole Foods, Amazon Business
  • 2% cashback at restaurants, wireless telephone services, and gas stations
  • 1% cashback on other purchases

Pay Later Options

If you want to spread the cost of large purchases then there is another option. Amazon now offers monthly payments on certain eligible items. Monthly payments offer you the ability to pay for a purchase in 5 payments. To check if you are eligible for amazon payment plans and which items you can purchase see our guide here.

Final Thoughts

Amazon offers several credit card options to its Prime and non-Prime members. Depending on whether you’re a consumer or a small business owner, you can choose from Amazon’s Credit Card Marketplace for the best option for your needs.

As for the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card and the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card, they’re generally great options if you purchase a lot on Amazon and Whole Foods, because then you can actually save money through cashbacks and rewards. However, if you rarely shop at Amazon or Whole Foods, then an Amazon credit card may not be the best option for you.

We hope this article helps you find the best suitable option for you if you’re looking to get an Amazon credit card soon.

How to activate an Amazon credit card

{"menuItems":[{"label":"How to activate your Amazon card with American Express","anchorName":"#how-to-activate-your-amazon-card-with-american-express"},{"label":"How to activate your Amazon card with Chase","anchorName":"#how-to-activate-your-amazon-card-with-chase"},{"label":"How to activate your Amazon card with Synchrony","anchorName":"#how-to-activate-your-amazon-card-with-synchrony"},{"label":"Getting started with your Amazon credit card","anchorName":"#getting-started-with-your-amazon-credit-card"},{"label":"Compare rewards credit cards","anchorName":"#compare-rewards-credit-cards"},{"label":"Bottom line","anchorName":"#bottom-line"}]}

Three card providers issue Amazon credit cards: American Express, Chase and Synchrony. The card activation process is simple with all three providers and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

American Express offers three ways to activate your Amazon credit card:

  1. Visit the mynewextsetup.us, enter your credit card number and 4-digit card ID on the back of your card. Click Confirm.
  2. Call the number on the back of your card.
  3. Download and use the Amex mobile app on iOS or Android, enter your card numbers or scan the card.

Amazon credit cards by American Express

There are two ways to activate your Amazon credit card with Chase:

  1. Go to mynewextsetup.us, log in or sign up with your Social Security number and your card, account or application number.
  2. Call and follow the prompts.

Amazon credit cards by Chase

If your Amazon card is issued by Synchrony, here’s how to activate it:

  1. If you have a sticker on the back of your card, call the number written on the sticker.
  2. Otherwise, call the number on the back of your card.

Amazon credit cards by Synchrony Bank

Once you’re approved for your Amazon credit card, you’ll want to do a few things to set yourself up for credit success.

    1. Download the mobile app. Getting the Chase mobile app or the Synchrony mobile app — depending on which Amazon card you got — can simplify your finances in many ways. For example, the Chase app lets you set up autopay, monitor your accounts and spending, make payments or activate the Chase Offers program.
    2. Set up digital wallets. Chase supports digital wallets, meaning you can add your Amazon card to Apple Pay, Google Pay, Garmin Pay and more.
    3. Enroll in online banking. Visit Chase’s website to enroll in online banking. You need to provide personal information, such as your SSN or tax ID, your bank account and your mobile phone. Once you set it up, you can monitor your accounts, activate autopay, redeem rewards and more. Amazon also has an online banking service for cards issued by Synchrony Bank.
    4. Add your card on mynewextsetup.us Make sure you have set your Amazon credit card as a preferred payment method on mynewextsetup.us to earn your cashback rewards.
    5. Set up a PIN. It’s likely that your card will already have a personal identification number (PIN), but in case you don’t have one — or you want to reset your old one — call Simply follow the automated instructions and you should be all set. Having a PIN number is important, especially for those who travel abroad.
    6. Set up autopay. To set up autopay, you need to access your Chase online account or your mobile app. From there, select the card you want, select Set up next to automated payments, chose the amount and from which account you wish to pay. You can also set up autopay for cards issued by Synchrony Bank.

Now that you have your Amazon card activated, you can start using it. If you ever feel the need to have access to a higher credit line or additional perks, consider applying for a second card to help you maximize rewards. For example, if your card now earns accelerated rewards on Amazon purchases, your next card could earn you rewards on groceries, gas or any other category where you spend most. Check out the cards in the table below to see what perks and rewards you could get.

Amazon credit cards are issued by three different card providers. However, the card activation process generally remains the same — by phone and online. American Express is the only provider of the three that lets you activate your card via the bank’s mobile app. If you need to activate a credit card from a different bank, read our guide on credit card activation.

  1. Amazon Rewards Visa Signature
  2. Amazon Rewards Prime Visa Signature

These are the official names of the cards. Basically, you’ll get the first one if you just have a basic Amazon membership and you’ll get the second one if you have Prime membership.

These two cards are the best cashback credit cards when it comes to shopping so we’ll break down all the details that you need to know about them.

Amazon Rewards Credit Card Key Features

Amazon Rewards Credit Card Points Earning

The points earnings are almost the same between the two cards. However, the differences can be seen in the Whole Foods and mynewextsetup.us category, where Prime members have 2% more cashback. Prime members will also have a $70 gift card as a sign-up bonus while non-Prime members will get a $50 gift card.

Prime cardholders will also get up to 20% cashback on rotating Amazon categories and products.

Your card will be automatically added to your Amazon account upon approval. This means that you can use the bonuses and start shopping right away even before you get the physical card.

Cashback rewards are not earned as cash but as points. Every 1¢ earned on any cashback category is equivalent to 1 point ( $1 = points). For example, if you’re a non-Prime cardholder and spend $ worth of purchases on mynewextsetup.us, you’ll get a cashback of $6 or points.

You can use these points directly at the checkout section on mynewextsetup.us or redeem them as gift cards, cashback, and travel on Chase.

Advantages Of Having Prime Membership

While it’s not necessary to have Prime Membership to have the card, there are advantages if you are one. Apart from the 5% cashback, you’ll get more member benefits in these categories:

  • Delivery – Get free and fast delivery on millions of products. You’ll also get early-release date delivery on books, movies, music, and more.
  • Streaming and Digital – Stream thousands of movies, TV shows, music, photos, and more in the Amazon Prime library.
  • Shopping – Member exclusive discounts and early access.
  • Reading – Unlimited access to thousands of e-books, magazines, and comics. You’ll also get early access and discounts on other Prime reading products.

Amazon Prime membership costs $ per year. If you do get the membership and Amazon Rewards Prime Visa Signature card, the sign-up bonus will cut the annual fee down to $49 in your first year.

This gives you enough time to decide if you should renew your Prime membership for the following year. Your Chase Visa account won’t close and you can still use the card if you decide to let your membership expire. There will be changes like the points earnings going back to 3% cashback on Amazon and Wholefoods.

Additional Benefits of the Amazon Rewards Credit Card

Both cards have added additional benefits which you can use for travel or shopping. You can view the full details here, but here’s a quick rundown of the benefits:

  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel Accident Insurance
  • Lost Luggage Insurance
  • Baggage Delay Insurance
  • Travel and Emergency Assistance
  • Zero Fraud Liability
  • Car Rental Collision Damage Waiver
  • Roadside Dispatch
  • Extended Warranty
  • Purchase Protection
  • Visa Signature® Luxury Hotel Collection
  • Visa Signature® Concierge Service

Drawbacks Of The Card

Both the Prime and non-Prime versions are issued by Chase but it appears that you cannot transfer your Amazon points to Chase Ultimate Rewards.

You can try calling Chase customer service and try your luck if you have lots of Amazon points. Chase has a lot of valuable products in its rewards program so it might be worth a shot.

Setting aside the non-transferrable points, the card is pretty much valuable for beginners. However, the card may not be for you if you’re not a frequent Amazon shopper. There are other cashback cards that offer 5% back like the Discover It and the Chase Freedom Flex. The cashback categories rotate every quarter on groceries, gas, restaurants, and more.

Amazon Rewards Credit Card

How To Use The Amazon Rewards Credit Card

The Amazon Rewards Credit Card’s 3% and 5% cashback is a great feature, but there are other rewards credit cards that offer better cashback. What we’re trying to say is don’t make the Amazon Rewards Credit Card your primary card.

Get another cashback card such as the Chase Freedom or Discover It and use them alternately. As we mentioned above, these two cards offer 5% cashback on rotating categories like grocery stores, Lyft, Uber, pharmacies, gas stations, and even Amazon.

What you can do is to use the Chase Freedom or Discover It card on a quarter where the rotating categories are 5% cashback on restaurants and gas stations. Once categories change at the end of the quarter, restaurant and gas purchases will only earn 1% cashback.

Now, this is the time to use your Amazon Visa Rewards Credit Card on restaurant and gas purchases to get 2% cashback. It not that complicated but you just need to put in some extra effort to keep track of the rotating categories

Bonus Tip :

A common mistake that cardholders do is they don’t use their card to charge the full amount on Amazon purchases. They tend to use their points during the checkout process to either waive the cost of the product or at least make it cheaper.

While it may seem like you’re getting a discount, you’re actually losing points if you redeem your points this way.

Here’s an example:

Let’s say you want to make a $ purchase on mynewextsetup.us using your Amazon Rewards Prime Visa Signature. Plus, you also have 5, Amazon points in your account which are worth $

Once you make the purchase, you will have the option of using your points at checkout which will cut down the total price to $ Since you have the Prime version of the card, you’ll be earning $ or points ($ x 5%).

However, if you used your card to pay the $ in full, you’re cashback earnings would be at $10 or 1, points ($ x .5%). You just earned $ or points more since you paid the price in full.

Basically, you will earn more points if you use your card to pay the full amount. Those little differences in points can add up in the long run. Once you’ve accumulated enough points, you can redeem them for statement credits and make your credit card bills cheaper.

The Amazon obviously allows you to earn points when you shop at mynewextsetup.us In fact, you will earn three points for every chase amazon prime rewards card you spend at mynewextsetup.us However, in addition to that, you also earn double points for spending on dining and gasoline.

For the Freedom card, you might earn 5% cash back for gasoline for chase amazon prime rewards card first quarter of the year (as an example).

You could chase amazon prime rewards card in full for purchases using points, or partially use some points and pay the rest with your Amazon Visa.

You also have to ask your chase amazon prime rewards card when do you exactly buy stuff from Amazon. If you only buy from them during the holiday season, then you may be chase amazon prime rewards card off with the Chase Freedom since you can earn 5X points during the 4th quarter as very often, they include mynewextsetup.us in their rotating categories for Q4 (the last time mynewextsetup.us was on their Q4 5% list was in Since then, mynewextsetup.us has not appeared on the Chase Freedom Q4 5% list).

  • You would like to redeem chase amazon prime rewards card for mynewextsetup.us purchases at check outs

American Express offers three ways to activate your Amazon credit card:

  1. Visit the mynewextsetup.us, enter your credit card number and 4-digit card ID on the back of your card. Click Confirm.
  2. Call the number on the back of your card.

Knowing what everyone buys every day is powerful for predicting their future behavior and boks tv online monetizing them (as other tech giants well know).

“The information sharing between AMZ and JPM would be chase amazon prime rewards card feature of their contractual agreement with each other and not something I chase amazon prime rewards card know,” said the U.S.

Amazon knows what you’re buying chase amazon prime rewards card either way.

The current bonus is $50 for non-Prime and $ for Prime, though we have seen as high as $ $ is highest ever. At the $$ level, this already becomes an interesting signup bonus.
