Middletown-based Liberty Bank to close six CT branches

Farmington Ave., Bristol.

7 Main St., Essex.

61 Bank St., New London.

Southford Road, Southbury.

Farmington Ave., West Hartford.

More Business

Of the six branches closing, only the West Hartford location has another Liberty Bank branch nearby.

Adam Jeamel, Liberty Bank’s corporate communications manager, said the decision to close the branches was made following an evaluation of “all aspects our business, including our branch network and ways to reinvest in the bank.”

“As part of our evaluation, we consider a number of factors including branch profitability, growth of households and deposits, deposit mix, transaction volume and market penetration,” Jeamel said. “In addition, we always monitor and respond to our customers’ changing banking habits, advancements in technology and the presence of competitor banks in our markets. Customers who bank with us at one of these branches will continue to benefit from a first-class banking experience at other nearby Liberty Bank branches.”

Bank officials are “making every effort to relocate” employees who work at the branches that are closing to other locations, he said.

John Carusone, president of the Bank Analysis Center, a Hartford-based industry consultant, called Liberty Bank “one of the finest banking branches left in the state of Connecticut.” A variety of factors could be behind the closing, Carsone said.

“It’s likely this is one of those instances where a bank is becoming increasingly sensitive to their bottom line,” he said. “A branch needs to generate about $30 million in deposits in order to break even, if the location in not generating significant loan activity. But that break even point is highly dependent on the operating expenses of the branch.”

Another possibility, according to Carusone, is that Liberty Bank officials will take the savings from the branch closings and invest in another part of the Connecticut banking marketplace.

Finally, Carusone said, the closings could signal Liberty Bank “is doing some kind of window dressing,” to make the bank look more attractive to a potential acquirer.

Carusone said in February that Connecticut banks were closing branches at more than twice the national rate.

It is a nightmare to dispute an item. You need to go to a branch to put in every dispute. They don&#;t follow protocal regarding the dispute process. I put a dispute in they did not bother to receive the dispute form and documentation to actually work on my dispute. They simply called the merchant and that is it. I was not notified that my dispute was being worked on and I thought it was not worked on since I had not submitted the dispute form. And then when I submitted the dispute form, they told me that was claim was already denied and my claim closed. They did not even notify me about the status of my claim and that my claim was denied. Don&#;t expect to get your money back if you place a dispute. I ordered something and never got the item. The merchant told me the item was shipped and it was never shipped. I provided the documentation verifying that I never received the item, gave them the tracking number and they said there was nothing they could do and just to deal with the merchant which I contacted the merchant by phone and they don&#;t pick up the phone and they don&#;t reply to emails either. So, I paid $ and I never received the item and Liberty Bank is saying there is nothing they can do. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WILL SWITCH BANK.

Middletown-based Liberty Bank to close six CT branches

The branches being closed are:

S. Main St., Beacon Falls.

Farmington Ave., Bristol.

7 Main St., Essex.

61 Bank St., New London.

Southford Road, Southbury.

Farmington Ave., West Hartford.

More Business

Of the six branches closing, only the West Hartford location has another Liberty Bank branch nearby.

Adam Jeamel, Liberty Bank’s fidelity bank and trust iowa communications manager, said the decision to close the branches was made following an evaluation of “all aspects our business, including our branch network and ways to reinvest in the bank.”

A mixture of small town quaintness and historical charm make Clinton a great place to start: a family, a business, a vacation.

The new Morgan School stands as an example of the commitment to education that new families are looking for. It is in our history: Yale got its start in Clinton. But there’s more than just the schools: From the town beaches and marinas to the two large recreational complexes, there is a wide variety of outdoor activities. The Henry Carter Hull Library offers much more than books with its many programs for kids and adults. The Andrews Memorial Town Hall is the home of the Opera Theater of Connecticut, the George

The Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to enhancing the local economic vitality and quality of life of the greater Clinton area. Through a core of volunteers and professional staff, the Chamber provides leadership, support, and networking within the business community. I ordered something and never got the allied savings bank contact number.
